DVI Workshop for the Visually Impaired - DVI's Kate Semmel will give an overview of the many services offered through DVI. Trainings, assessment and evaluations, and equipment recommendations are just a few of the topics that will be discussed. Also, gain hands-on with AT for the visually impaired.

DigiVoxTM Set-Up -This is an introductory course on basic DigiVoxTM programming and operation. Participants will become familiar with the DigiVoxTM hardware and software, learn how to program the DigiVoxTM, create DigiVoxTM overlays and become familiar with DigiVoxTM selection methods options.

DynaVoxTM Set-up - This is a course on basic DynaVoxTM programming and operation. Participants will be introduced to the DynaVoxTM hardware and software, and become familiar with adjusting controls, creating communication screens, and selection method options.

DynaVoxTM Advanced Basics-This is the follow-up course to DynaVoxTM Set-up. This course is open to anyone who is familiar with the basics of DynaVoxTM operations. In this course participants will be better able to organize communication screens, learn programming short cuts and advanced techniques, and be better able to adjust selection method options based on individual needs. Additionally, participants have the opportunity to have individual needs and questions discussed.

Exploring Computer Software for Children & Adults - The ATRC's coordinator George Himes will take you on an exciting adventure exploring many computer software programs suitable for both children and adults. George will cover a wide range of cognitive assist, cause and effect, and adult literacy programs.

An Introduction to Communication Aids - This workshop will introduce a variety of communication aids suitable for all ages. Explore the Dynavox, DigiVox, Liberator, SpeakEasy, and more!

Learning DragonDictate - ATRC Coordinator George Himes will explore the specialties of DragonDictate. Join in to see the wonderful adventure of hands-free computing!

Little Planet & Failure Free Reading - This is an opportunity to explore two literacy programs used in over 2,500 educational sites in the U.S. and Canada.

The Internet - Rehab engineer Rob Czetli will give an overview of the Internet. You will learn basics and gain tips on how the Internet can be a great resource for you!

UCS1000 with Tongue Touch Keypad - Kymberly Bashaw, Product Marketing Specialist will help participants learn details on how nine pressure sensitive keys are activated by tongue movement inside the mouth to provide rapid access to an extensive range of electromechanical devices.

Classroom Short-Cuts - Participants will learn creative ways to organize and access files and programs on their Mac or IBM computer. Software to assist in typing for students with learning and or physical disabilities will be demonstrated as well as alternative access methods. Learn how easy it is to put tests and worksheets on the computer for students who are unable to write. Participants will also learn how to protect their computer from accidental deletions and students exploring the hard drive.

Early Intervention and Adapted Toys - See the latest in software for early exploration, motor training, and evaluation and education. Learn about the many other forms of access to the computer beyond the standard keyboard and mouse. Participants will not only adapt a battery toy for use with a switch, but make their own switch as well. Everyone will leave with the toys and switches that they adapt as well as a variety of catalogs and resources. Fee $13 per person.

Seating, Positioning, and Wheeled Mobility - Introduction - Learn why proper seating and positioning are important. In addition, see techniques of evaluation and equipment used for assessment. Presented by Nancy Ranalli, PT; Jill Moynahan, OT, and Mike Meyreles, RE.

DigiVoxTM Set-Up -This is an introductory course on basic DigiVoxTM programming and operation. Participants will become familiar with the DigiVoxTM hardware and software, learn how to program the DigiVoxTM, create DigiVoxTM overlays and become familiar with DigiVoxTM selection methods options.

Disabilities & AT-Attendees of this workshop will learn more about some impairments associated with a variety of disabilities (i.e. cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, CVA, etc.) and their characteristics. Topics include: low-cost and no-cost modifications to meet ADA standards, equipment demonstrations for independence, and recognizing the needs for more specialized therapeutic intervention.

Introduction to AAC - This workshop will review what is involved in completing an AAC evaluation for individuals who are nonspeaking. Participants will gain information about low tech and high tech communication devices such as the Say-It-All, Macaw, Voice 160, DynaVoxTM, and System 2000. One case study will be presented.

Sign Language - Attendees will acquire a functional sign language vocabulary of approximately 250 signs as well as learn about individual considerations when working with individuals who cannot use speech to communicate. Information will also be provided on when, why, and how to teach sign language. A brief overview of AAC systems will also be provided. Focus will be primarily on "low tech" systems.

Sensory Impairments - An all day workshop focusing on technology for people with sensory impairments. Jim Tyler from Delaware Hearing Consultants will discuss technology available to accommodate those with hearing loss. Ed Jory from the Division for the Visually Impaired will demonstrate equipment for those with blindness or low vision. Ed Salisbury from DATI will demonstrate telecommunications options for those with hearing or speech impairments.

Beginning March 1, 1996 Delaware non-residents will be charged a fee of $20 (unless otherwise indicated) to attend DATI training activities.
